Real estate developer AFI has commenced construction of a new kindergarten for 96 children in Vysočany, near the Kolbenova metro station. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2027. The new facility will significantly enhance access to preschool education in this rapidly developing area. The kindergarten will be operated by the Prague 9 Municipal District.
The project forms part of the broader development of the area, adding not only important public amenities but also further infrastructure improvements. Alongside the kindergarten construction, AFI has launched the second phase of a cycling path that will connect the AFI City complex from west to east along the railway line.

Residents will also benefit from the extension of the noise barrier adjacent to the railway line, bringing its total length to 372 meters. The surroundings of the kindergarten and the entire complex will be complemented by new landscaping, adding greenery and enhancing the quality of the public space.
The construction of the kindergarten directly addresses the growing demand for preschool education capacity in the rapidly developing former brownfield area of Vysočany. The new project within the AFI City development includes a modern two-storey building housing four classrooms, a food distribution facility, and dedicated spaces for a children’s sports group, all designed in accordance with contemporary preschool education standards. The development will also feature an outdoor area for a variety of sports, recreational, and educational activities.
The architectural design has been prepared by ORTOGONAL studio, while Metrostav CZ serves as the general contractor.
“At AFI, we have long believed that high-quality and accessible public amenities are a key component of the successful development of any neighborhood. The construction of this new kindergarten in Vysočany is therefore a natural step in supporting families living in AFI City and the surrounding area. At the same time, this project demonstrates our commitment to developing communities comprehensively. We build residential, office, and retail spaces, while also investing in infrastructure and public spaces that enhance the quality of life for the entire community,” concludes Karin Shalev Shogol, CEO of AFI in the Czech Republic.
